Mirissa is the south coast's whale watching and beach town, and the Southern Expressway makes it an easy drive from Colombo. A private driver can add a stop at Galle Fort on the way.
Most of the trip is on the Southern Expressway (E01) to Galle or Godagama, then a short coastal road through Weligama to Mirissa. The expressway is fast; the last coastal stretch is slower.

About 2.5 to 3 hours on the Southern Expressway, or longer if you take the coastal Galle Road.
The expressway is much faster. Take the coast road only if you want to stop at beach towns like Bentota and Hikkaduwa.
