Sri Lanka wildlife and safari trips
Updated 10 October 2026 · by the GoTourRide team
Sri Lanka has leopards, elephants, sloth bears and hundreds of bird species. A private driver gets you to the park gates before dawn, which is when most sightings happen.
Which park for what
Yala is best for leopards. Udawalawe is the most reliable place for elephants. Wilpattu is quieter and greener. Minneriya and Kaudulla host the elephant gathering from about July to October.
Tips
Book jeeps and trackers for the first light and the last two hours of the day. Stay close to the park the night before so you can start early.
