Sri Lanka honeymoon itinerary
Updated 10 October 2026 · by the GoTourRide team
A honeymoon in Sri Lanka works best when you keep the driving short and the stays long. A private driver collects you at the airport, handles the mountain roads and lets you stop wherever you like, so the trip stays relaxed.
A classic honeymoon route
Most couples spend a night or two in the Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya), two nights in the hill country (Kandy and Ella), one night near a safari park, and finish with four or five nights on the south coast. That is roughly 10 to 12 days, with no more than one long drive a day.
When to go
The south and west coasts are best from November to April, and the east coast from May to September. Check the monsoon for your dates before booking your beach hotels.
Make it feel special
Ask your driver for a sunrise stop, a tea estate visit or a quiet beach, and book hotels with a view or a private pool. Starting each day later and leaving the longest drive for a day with no sightseeing keeps the trip restful.

FAQs
How many days do you need for a Sri Lanka honeymoon?
Ten to twelve days is ideal: enough for the Cultural Triangle, the hill country, a safari and several beach nights without rushing.
Is Sri Lanka good for a honeymoon?
Yes. It offers beaches, tea country, wildlife and culture in a small area, and a private driver makes the travel easy.
Should we hire a private driver for our honeymoon?
Most couples do, because it removes the stress of buses and long transfers and lets you travel at your own pace. See our driver hiring checklist for what to check.
