Colombo mixes colonial buildings, Buddhist temples, markets and a long seafront. Most sights can be seen in one day with a driver, before you head out of the city.
Colombo traffic is heavy and parking is hard to find. A local driver knows the quickest roads out of the city and can collect you from your hotel, the port or the railway station.
One day is enough for the main sights. Most travellers spend a night at the start or end of their trip.
Gangaramaya Temple, Pettah market, Galle Face Green, colonial buildings in Fort and its food scene.
