The Southern Expressway now takes you most of the way from Colombo to Yala, so you can leave in the morning and still catch an afternoon safari. A private driver makes the long day easy.
Take the E01 Southern Expressway to its end near Hambantota, then drive the flat A2 and B-roads through Tissamaharama to the park entrance. It is one of the fastest long drives in the country.
